All compact fluorescent lamps contain mercury. If there is no mercury there is no light. But compact fluorescent lamps use so little mercury (less than 5mg; about the size of a tip of a pencil), that handling and recycling such a small amount is very straight forward.

These helpful documents will explain the life cycle of mercury and CFLs.

This is the new "Low Mercury" Logo from MaxLite. This logo will appear on the product packaging of all of MaxLite's low mercury products, and will be displayed on all literature and on the MaxLite website. It can be used to identify those products which meet "Low Mercury" standards.

MaxLite's Recycle Door Clings identify those retailers who are MaxLite Recycle partners. These stores are participating in an authorized MaxLite recycle program and have on-site recycle boxes so they can accept spent CFLs.
