MaxLite’s management, marketing, and product team includes many leaders with years of experience in the lighting industry as well as lighting industry outsiders who bring a fresh perspective and depth of experience from similarly rapid-changing industries.
Yon Sung, President and CEO
Yon founded MaxLite in NJ in 1993 as a joint venture with his father's South Korea-based company, SK Enterprise Co, Ltd., a pioneer in manufacturing energy-efficient fluorescent lighting products since 1955. In 1998, Yon acquired 100 percent ownership of the company and began to focus on developing new business channels within the green technology industry, including the MaxLED® division for leading LED lighting solutions.
Under Yon’s leadership, MaxLite has grown to be one of the leaders in today’s lighting industry, where lighting has become more of an advanced system solution as opposed to meeting only basic needs. Yon’s vision has led MaxLite to become one of the global leaders in the fast-paced digital LED environment through advanced lighting technologies and system solutions.
Yon holds a M.B.A. from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Prior to MaxLite, Yon worked in international banking at J.P. Morgan and at Marine Midland Bank for 13 years in Seoul, Korea and in New York City as VP and Manager of Asia Pacific Region.
