A newly renovated Starbucks coffee house in Tempe, Arizona, features a new 16-foot cartography-inspired bold mural with flowers in an old-world painting style positioned along the customer seating area. Starbucks chose to install 16 of MaxLite’s six-watt Plug-and-Play LED Lightbars, installed in a complete circuit around the mural beneath a frame. The cool operating fixtures now provide a balanced glow of warm color that enriches the mood of the mural and draws customers in to view and enjoy. The LED fixtures will save the coffee house 78 percent in energy, or 12,200 kWh, and $2,404 in energy and maintenance costs throughout L70-rated the 50,000-hour lifetime of the fixtures, compared with the proposed halogen PAR38 bulbs.

-- “Our client was very impressed with the uniform lighting the LED lightbars provided, and they thought it provided superior light to the four spot lights. The light has a smooth look to it versus the bright spotlights we were previously using which had more of a sharp edge of light and burned really hot. They also couldn’t believe how cool the LEDs were, even after being on for several hours.” -- Richard Antiporda, Vice President of Sales, Canterra Lighting

Radcliffe Jewelers, a premier retailer of luxury merchandise in Towson, MD, replaced 50 35-watt MR11 halogen lamps in the two glass display cases with just four 20-watt LED Linear T8 Lamps, reducing the energy consumption by 1,670 watts, or 95 percent. The cool-operating LED lamps do not fade the color of the figurines and showcase the collectables in a bright, high-quality light.

-- “I selected MaxLite’s LED Linear T8 Lamps for this job because I wanted to try indoor LED products after I had so much success with MaxLite’s outdoor LED products in the past. I installed the T8s, and they work absolutely perfectly. You can clearly see the difference," said Shane Hresko, CEO of Bmore Green. "Before the cases were dull, and now the cases are bright and vibrant and the colors stand out.”

Roundbank has a round shape on the exterior and smooth curves within. To improve the aesthetics of their lobby and improve energy-efficiency, the bank replaced 30 mercury vapor pendant-mounted spun cans hanging from the ceiling over the lobby floor and workstations with just 21 of MaxLite’s 45-watt LED pendants in a bright white 5000K correlated color temperature. Compared with the mercury vapor spun cans, the ENERGY STAR® qualified LED pendants almost doubled the footcandles in the bank’s lobby from about 17 to 35, and created an even light distribution throughout the whole lobby. Overall, the bank will save 387,750 kWh of energy and $45,102 in energy and maintenance costs throughout the lifetime of the LED fixtures.

“We kept our mercury vapor lighting fixtures for many years, until the bulbs weren’t available anymore. There has been positive feedback to the improved LED lighting from customers and employees. The staff is happy and the lobby now has a different feel with a more inviting presence.” --- Larry Thompson, President of Roundbank in Waseca, Minnesota

“The fixtures that the bank had before produced a lot of shadows and had poor quality of light. The new lighting fixtures created unbelievable light quality, and the bank is very satisfied with their performance. Using nine less fixtures than previously installed, the fixture produced almost double the footcandles of the metal halides.” --- Jeff Kath, Lighting Consultant, The Retrofit Companies

Located just three miles away from LaGuardia airport in Flushing, New York, the Sheraton LaGuardia East is one of the region’s busiest hotels with 173 guest rooms and over 15,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces. The hotel was burdened each month with exorbitant utility bills and a high volume of operations and maintenance issues stemming from guest complaints. As part of a full-scale renovation designed to help the hotel save energy and better serve its guests, over 3,000 MaxLite brand LED lamps and fixtures were installed throughout the property. A combination of A Lamps, PARs, MR16s, Candelabras and Flood Lights were applied to guest rooms and common areas inside the hotel, while Area Lights were installed in the parking light. The hotel will save almost 60% in energy consumption and over $235,000 in energy costs annually from the upgrades.

“The upgraded lighting measures installed improved the light levels and quality of the light dramatically throughout the hotel. It also helped standardize the consistency and color of the lighting technologies, which in turn will assist with procurement and maintenance in the future.” – Melanie Gately, Quality Conversation Services, Inc.

The Market Basket grocery retail chain in New England needed lighting fixtures that would illuminate the backroom coolers, where they store and stock cold beverages and food. Initially designed and engineered by MaxLite to illuminate parking garage structures, the 40-watt LED Parking Garage Luminaires were used to replace 150- and 200-watt incandescent lighting in the backroom coolers of the supermarkets.

-- “We initially used MaxLite’s LED fixtures in six Market Basket grocery stores in New Hampshire and Massachusetts,” said John Maria, Vice President of Design Lighting and Electrical Supplies, Inc. “Currently we are using the energy efficient lighting for two new stores that are under construction in Manchester, New Hampshire and Bourne, Massachusetts. MaxLite fixtures performed well in the initial presentations. They met our customer’s needs and distribute a substantial amount of light at lower operating temperatures. Market Basket executives are delighted with MaxLite’s luminaires and they are performing well in those applications.”
