An
Energy Star partner since 1995, MaxLite was one of the first lighting manufacturers
to join forces with Energy Star.
Energy Star is a government backed voluntary labeling program designed to promote
energy efficient products to protect the environment and reduce greenhouse gas
emissions.
The purchaser is given energy efficient choices on light fixtures, and bulbs
that meet guidelines of EPA and DOE.
HISTORY
• 1991: First Lighting Program
• 1992: First Energy Star labeled product lines
• 2003: More than 30 Product categories including lamps, residential
light fixtures, computers, printers, faxes, air-conditioners, TV’s,
VCR’s, Ceiling Fans, Heating etc
LIGHTING AND HOME
• Typical home spends 10-15% of annual electric bill on lighting
• Lighting accounts for about $11 billion in consumer electricity bills
• High percentage due to inefficient fixtures & bulbs
• 87% of residential lighting use incandescent technologies
• Energy Star lamps and fixtures use 2/3 less energy to operate
• DOE estimates 35%+ of lighting electricity could be saved by CFL’s
